On April 1st 2012, 7 enthusiastic and experienced individuals took a leap of faith and started their own charity in the Harrogate district. They wanted to support people living with dementia to live well in their local community, to be able to access local services, speak to local support advisors and know that any money that was raised towards these services went right back into providing local support. Fast forward 10 years and Dementia Forward covers the whole of North Yorkshire and York, has a team of 47 staff, 200 wonderful volunteers, and incredible board of trustees and supports over 4,500 people. This year we are marking that incredible achievement, thanking everyone who has been with us along the way, remembering those who are no longer with us, but who have been an integral part of Dementia Forward over the years, and looking to the next 10 years – because as long as dementia affects people in North Yorkshire, we want to be here to provide support.
