Wellbeing Activities

Our wellbeing services provide opportunities for people to socialise and spend time doing something enjoyable in a relaxed and supportive setting. Our groups are run by Dementia Support Advisors (so you will have a familiar face to welcome you and answer any questions), supported by our fabulous volunteers. Please contact us to find out more about the your local wellbeing activities.

Wellbeing and Brain Health Cafes

We have wellbeing cafes in each of the districts of North Yorkshire. Our Wellbeing cafés are open to people with a diagnosis of dementia, mild cognitive impairment and memory issues. They are a friendly, engaging space for people with dementia and their carers to enjoy a wide range of activities in a friendly and relaxed environment. You can download a list of our local wellbeing cafes here:

Singing Groups

The benefits of music for people living with dementia, are well documented; it can stimulate the brain, improve mood and help people to relax – and we certainly see this at our singing groups. People can join in in whatever way suits them; whether they sit and listen, tap or hum along, or give it some gusto. The sessions are led by our fabulous volunteer musicians, who make everyone feel comfortable and keep the songs and the laughter coming so everyone leaves with a smile on their face.

We hope you enjoy seeing our Harrogate Singing Group in action:

“I want to tell you that I have never felt so relaxed and confident. It has been a real eye opener; diagnosis hit me hard but going to Dementia Forward is really great for us both. We feel surrounded by care and we know there is someone there to call if we need it. Words cannot express how I feel and what a difference it has made to us both”
